Fashion for the Arts is
marrying high fashion and wedding reception ambience during it’s annual
spring runway show Saturday, May 10.
To be held at the Waterview Grille Pavilion at the Easton Club, the fifth annual
show is “An Invitation to Style.” Guests will be treated to a wedding reception
atmosphere that includes music, hors d’ouevres, a silent auction and a special
opportunity to win a wide selection of prizes. A croquet course will also be
set up for challenges with wickets and mallets. A runway show is the highlight
of the “reception” with local haberdasheries displaying the latest fashions of
the season.
The event begins with a cocktail hour at 5:30 pm, featuring fabulous foods, wine,
beer and sodas. The fashion show, featuring local models, starts at 7 pm. Tickets
are $65, of which $35 is tax deductible. Tickets can be purchased online at www.fashionforthearts.org
or at M Randall and Co., 17 N. Harrison St., Easton. For more information call
(410) 820-4077.
This year's show will again be held on the Saturday before Mother's Day, which
presents the perfect opportunity to celebrate Mom. Taking her to a great fashion
event is a more personal way to say thanks than a gift in a box. Those attending
are encouraged to wear their finest hats to celebrate spring.
Fashion for the Arts is a nonprofit organization that seeks to enhance art experiences
for local children. This year, proceeds from the show will go to Easton ROCKS,
an after school program for elementary and middle school students. Programs offered
by Easton ROCKS After School, Inc. include Art Adventure, Art Studio, various
dancing programs and Theater Improvisation. Easton ROCKS began in 2005.
Past beneficiaries of Fashion for the Arts include Dance Harrison Street, Cricket
Theater, the Easton Band Boosters and Studio 202, a video program offered at
the Talbot County YMCA.
Again this year, the Savvy Award will be presented to a person who exemplifies
grace, style, philanthropy and a passion for local fashions. The award, designed
by Westphal Jewelers, has been presented in the past to Delia Denny, Nancy Fox,
Marie U’Ren and Janice Finger.
