Fashion for the Arts is a non-profit agency founded to encourage and enhance artistic opportunities for area youth. To that end, Fashion for the Arts undertakes a major fundraiser each spring, which entails a runway fashion show and silent auction. Proceeds from the show go to a variety of art programs including theatre, dance, music and various other artistic media benefiting local children. Past beneficiaries of Fashion for the Arts are Dance Harrison Street, Cricket Theatre and the Easton Band Boosters, an organization that sustains and supports the Easton High School music programs. Last year's beneficiary was Studio 202, the YMCA of Talbot County's new cinematography program for students 11-17. This year our beneficiary is Easton ROCKS, which provides elementary and middle school children with fun, safe and educational after school activities. Also, Fashion for the Arts awards the annual Savvy Award, which honors a local person who exemplifies style, grace, fashion and philanthropy. Past awardees are Delia Denny, Nancy Fox, Marie U'Ren and Janice Finger. The organization was founded by Marc Del Pino of M. Randall & Co. in Easton. This year's committee members include Paulette Duracinsky, Charlene Edwards, Jim Fodrie, Susan Langfitt, Kathleen Lea, Kate Levey, Mary Lou Macdonald, Suzy Moore, Erin Neaton, Kirsten Poole, Maggii Sarfaty, Eva Smorzaniuk, Marie U'Ren and Mary Valliant. |
